June 15-16, 2009, Orenburg

On the 15 and 16 of June the city of Orenburg hosted a two-day Workshop that gathered Experts whose aim was to develop a Manual of Recommendations on Implementation of Prevention Programs in the companies of the Orenburg region.

The workshop was organized by the Orenburg Regional Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (OSPP), Global Business Coalition on HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (GBC) and Russian National Association “Business for Healthy Society”.

The Manual gives regional corporate leaders recommendations on two large prevention areas such as HIV and alcohol and drug abuse. It will be drafted as a step-by-step guideline on the implementation of corporate prevention program and will consider all regional specifics of business procedures and infrastructure of support and care.

This expert group is a unique multi-sectoral think tank: specialists and officials from the Regional Ministry of Health and Social Development, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Construction and Communal Services, Regional AIDS Center, Narcology Center, Orenburg City Administration, social Agency “Health of Young People”, Trade Unions Federation, as well as HSE and Health managers from the following companies: Gazprom Extraction, ТNК-ВР Management, Orenburgneft, Unichel, Orenburgenergo and Zhivaya Voda.

The Manual of Recommendations will be published in autumn 2009 and officially presented at the large regional conference “Social Partnership. XXI Century”. The Manual will be a written guidance within the initiative called a Comprehensive Prevention Program of Social Disease in the Companies of the Orenburg Region. This collective action is supported by the region government, employers and trade unions organizations.

In the course of 2008 – 2010 OSPP and GBC provide guidance to a number of companies that implement employee prevention programs like Orenburgneft, Strela, Unichel, MRSK Volgi and Zhivaya Voda.
